A former pupil of St Columba’s Preparatory College, Largs, Ayrshire and St Joseph’s College, Dumfries, John is a graduate of Edinburgh University-BA (English and Philosophy) and LLB. He has a post-graduate diploma in Legal Practice from the University of Aberdeen. He served his legal Traineeship in the Granite City with the Firm of Edmonds & Ledingham (now Ledingham Chalmers). He was assumed as a Partner in Primrose & Gordon on 6th April 1988. As well as being the Managing Partner of the Firm John is also the mentor for our Legal Trainees. He is versatile in both Court and Chamber Practice. He is Solicitor to the Guild of Players, Theatre Royal, Dumfries, a founder Trustee of the Ian Wardlaw Drama Trust, former Chairman of St Teresa’s Primary School Board, Dumfries (during the period when they successfully fought school closure plans), Administrator of The Mouswald Trust, and Legal Adviser to Peter Pan Moat Brae Trust amongst other roles. His main outside interests are music and history. John Lawson is married with two children and lives at Trohoughton just outside Dumfries.
